Part-Time Health Navigator

  • 20 hours per week

  • Fixed-term until December 2026

  • Salary range based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) of $63,000–$68,000 per annum, pro-rated to hours worked.

Casual Health Navigator

  • Casual, as-needed hours

  • Hourly rate of $30–$33 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

We are currently recruiting for both a part-time fixed-term and a casual Health Navigator position based in Greymouth. This is a people-focused role supporting patients and their whānau to better manage their health and access the services they need.

About us

West Coast Health is a community trust dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of people across the Coast. We work closely with local providers, iwi, and community groups to deliver coordinated, accessible care.

What you’ll be doing

No two days will look the same, but you’ll be:

  • Supporting people with long-term conditions and their whānau

  • Identifying needs and barriers to care working with patients and whānau to develop an action plan

  • Connecting people with health, social, and community services

  • Providing information on social support services, financial assistance, transport assistance, how families can help, alternative and complementary therapies, traditional medicine (Rongoā), palliative care services.

  • Advocating for clients to ensure they get timely, coordinated care

  • Working alongside medical practices and other health providers

What we’re looking for

You don’t need to tick every box, but you’ll ideally bring:

  • Experience in healthcare, community work, or caregiving

  • A genuine passion for helping people from all walks of life

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • Good organisation and problem-solving ability

  • Cultural awareness and respect for different worldviews

  • A full NZ driver’s licence and basic computer skills

Most importantly, you’ll be empathetic, practical, and able to connect with people.
