How to access this service?
West Coast Health offers a funded and free service to support mothers through their breastfeeding journey.
Breastfeeding may be natural, but it’s still a skill that both mum and baby learn together. Some situations can make breastfeeding more challenging and getting the right information and support is vital.
Our Breastfeeding Advocate supports mothers Coast-wide at any stage of their breastfeeding journey; problem-solving, finding the information you need and connecting you with other breastfeeding mums.
Breastfeeding services our Advocate provides
- Free Lactation Consultancy Services
- Mum4Mum Breastfeeding Supporters: Voluntary, trained peer counsellors who are passionate about supporting other mothers in their breastfeeding journey.
- Breastfeeding Education sessions available, either before or after the baby arrives for individuals and/or whānau.
Appointments can be at home or at West Coast Health (Greymouth or Westport).
How to access this service?
Referrals
The West Coast Health Breastfeeding Advocate accepts self-referrals, or referrals from anyone else supporting a breastfeeding mum. It’s simple – all you have to do is fill in this form and our breastfeeding advocate will be in touch.
